Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce Recipe
Makes 2 cups (500 ml)
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed, finely grated zest of half lemon, 2 pounds (960 g) ripe tomatoes, peeled and roughly chopped, 4 tablespoons vegetable stock, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 2-3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, pinch of caster (superfine) sugar, salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions: In a ceramic pot, combine olive oil, garlic, and lemon zest. Stir well. Cover slow cooker and cook on high heat setting for 15 minutes. Open slow cooker and stir in chopped fresh tomatoes, vegetable stock, dried oregano and caster sugar. Stir to combine, then cover cooker, reduce heat to low and cook for 3 hours.
Turn off slow cooker. Open and stir in fresh basil. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
Slow Cooker White Sauce Recipe
Makes 2 cups (500 ml)
Ingredients: 1²⁄³ cups (410 ml) milk, 1/2 yellow onion, peeled, bay leaf, a blade of mace, 4 black peppercorns, 1½ tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions: In a ceramic pot, combine milk, bay leaf,blade of mace,onion and peppercorns. Stir well. Cover and cook on high-heat setting for 1 hour, or until simmered. Discard flavoring ingredients from the milk with a slotted spoon. Add the paste in small spoonfuls and whisk into the hot milk until thickened.
Cover slow cooker and cook on high-heat setting for further 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Turn off slow cooker and open the lid. Season to taste with salt and blck pepper. Stir well. Serve with your favorite meals.
Easy Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Recipe
- 1/4 pound (120 g) bacon, sliced
- 1¼ pound (600 g) ground beef
- 1/2 pound (240 g) ground pork
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup chopped green peppers
- 3 garlic cloves, peeled
- 2 cans (3 oz (90ml) each)) Italian tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 oz (180 ml) each)) tomato paste
- 2½ teaspoons dried oregano
- 2½ teaspoons dried basil
- 1 bay leaf, crumbled
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) water
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Brown bacon in the skillet until crisp. Remove.Add ground beef and pork. Crumble and cook until brown. Stir in onions, green peppers, and garlic. Cook 10 min.
Pour tomatoes into the slow cooker and crush with the back of the spoon. Add all other ingredients in slow cooker. Cover.Bring to boil on High. Reduce heat to low for 3-4 hours.
