Slow Cooker Barbecued Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 4 pounds (2 kg) chicken wings, trimmed
- 1ยฝ cups (370 ml) barbecue sauce, divided
- cooking spray
Method
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, paprika, mustard, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Step 2
Place the dry mixture in a large plastic zip-lock bag. Place chicken wings in a zip-lock bag and shake well to coat with the dry mixture. Pour ยฝ cup (125 ml) of the barbecue sauce over the chicken and stir well to coat.
Step 3
Transfer spiced chicken wings in the slow cooker. Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 3-4 hours or until chicken wings are tender.
Step 4
Remove cooked chicken wings from the slow cooker. Position the oven rack 10 inches(25 cm) from the broiler element and heat on high. Place a wire cooling rack on an aluminum foil-lined rimmed baking sheet and lightly grease the wire rack with cooking spray.
Step 5
Transfer cooked chicken wings to the prepared baking sheet. Brush chicken wings with ยฝ cup (125 ml) more barbecue sauce. Broil until lightly charred and crisp, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 6
Flip chicken over, brush with remaining ยฝ cup(125 ml) barbecue sauce. Continue to broil until lightly charred and crisp on the second side, for a further 5-10 minutes. Remove barbecued chicken wings from the broiler and serve immediately.
