 The slow cooker chicken parmesan recipe is a favorite among Italian food. It is easy to make and tastes delicious. The most important thing to remember is that you need to use a good-quality chicken for this recipe.

The best way to make this dish is in the slow cooker, but you can also make it on the stovetop.

If you are using a slow cooker, be sure that it has enough room for your chicken breasts. to fit without touching.

Ingredients:

1/2 pound of your favorite pasta, cooked and drained (whole wheat spaghetti is my favorite)

1 to 1-1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded

4 tablespoons dried basil or 2 tablespoons of fresh basil, chopped fine -or- 1 teaspoon crushed dried basil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

2 cups marinara sauce (or your favorite spaghetti sauce)

16 ounces of shredded chicken breast – or two 8-ounce packages of diced, cooked chicken breast

Directions:

1. Spray a slow cooker with cooking spray and turn it on to low heat.

2. To the slow cooker, add the pasta, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, dried basil, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir to combine.

3. Turn the heat off on the slow cooker and add sauce to the pasta mixture until coated.

4. Add chicken and stir until combined well with sauce mixture in slow cooker5. Cook for about 6-8 hours or until pasta is tender.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 6 boneless and skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1 cup (250 g) Italian breadcrumbs
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 14 oz (420 ml) jar pizza sauce
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
  • grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Whisk well.

Step 2

Dip chicken breasts into the egg mixture and coat with bread crumbs.

Step 3

Heat butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and sauté in hot butter. Transfer chicken to a slow cooker.

Step 4

Pour pizza sauce over chicken. Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours.

Step 5

Layer mozzarella cheese over top and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover slow cooker and cook for a further 15 minutes.
