Slow Cooker Barbecued Chicken Wings

- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 4 pounds (2 kg) chicken wings,trimmed
- 1½ cups (370 ml) barbecue sauce,divided
- cooking spray
In a mixing bowl,combine sugar, paprika, mustard, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Place dry mixture in large plastic zip-lock bag. Place chicken wings in zip-lock bag and shake well to coat with dry mixture. Pour ½ cup (125 ml) of the barbecue sauce over chicken and stir well to coat.
Transfer spiced chicken wings in slow cooker. Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 3-4 hours or until chicken wings are tender.
Remove cooked chicken wings from slow cooker. Position oven rack 10 inches(25 cm) from broiler element and heat on high. Place a wire cooling rack on an aluminum foil-lined rimmed baking sheet and lightly grease the wire rack with cooking spray.
Transfer cooked chicken wings to prepared baking sheet. Brush chicken wings with ½ cup (125 ml) more barbecue sauce. Broil until lightly charred and crisp ,about 10 to 15 minutes.
Flip chicken over, brush with remaining ½ cup(125 ml) barbecue sauce. Continue to broil until lightly charred and crisp on second side, for a further 5-10 minutes. Remove barbecued chicken wings from the broiler and serve immediately.
