Beer-battered crispy onion rings.This is very delicious appetizer. Adapted from


  • 1 large egg,beaten
  • 1 cup (250 ml) Pale Ale
  • 1 ½ (370 g) cups cake flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 ½ pounds(720 g) yellow onions
  • all-purpose flour for dredging
  • 1 quart (1 L) vegetable oil for frying


Step 1

In a mixing bowl,combine cake flour

Step 2

Dredge onion rings with all-purpose flour. Shake off the excess.

Step 3

In Dutch oven,preheat vegetable oil to 325 F (160 C). Dip individual onion rings into the beer mixture, then carefully add each to the hot oil.

Step 4

Working in a batches,fry until golden brown.

Step 5

Remove fried onion rings from the oven. Pat dry with paper towel. Season with salt and serve immediately.
