Ingredients
- 2 pounds (960 g) cube steak
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 large white onion, peeled and chopped
- For Mushroom Gravy:
- 10Β½ oz (315 ml) cream of mushroom soup
- 3/4 oz (7Β½ g) powdered mushrrom mix
- 10 oz (300 g) sliced mushrooms
Method
Step 1
In a medium mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper. Stir well. Dredge both sides of beef steak with flour mixture. Set aside.
Step 2
Heat the canola oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chopped onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 4-5 minutes.
Step 3
Add seasoned steak and cook until lightly browned on both sides. Remove beef steak and onions from the pan and transfer to a greased crock pot.
Step 4
In a large mixing bowl, combine all mushroom gravy ingredients. Mix well, then pour the gravy over the steak and onions.
Step 5
Close the slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 8-10 hours or until beef is tender.
Step 6
Turn off the pot and open the lid. Transfer cooked beef in a large servein plate. Pour the gravy over. Serve hot with mashed potatoes.
