Easy Swiss cheese fondue recipe. There are too many versions of Swiss cheese fondue: with Champagne, or with Gruyère and cider, with mushrooms and dry white wine. I’ll prepare Classic Swiss Cheese Fondue Recipe. 

I’d like to share with you more cheese fondue recipes:

Cheddar Cheese Fondue Recipe

makes 6 servings

Ingredients: 2 cups (500 ml) half-and-half, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons dry mustard, 1 garlic clove, peeled and halved, 1½ pounds (720 g) mild or sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded, 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, dash of salt, chunks or crusty French bread

Instructions: In a fondue pot, combine half-and-half, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and garlic. Stir well and heat over low heat, stirring, until hot but not boiling. Turn off fondue pot and discard garlic.

Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl, combine Cheddar cheese and all-purpose flour. Mix well. Into hot half-and-half mixture, using a fork or wire whisk, gradually stir cheese mixture. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted and mixture smooth and bubbling. Season to taste with salt.

Spear chunked french bread on a long-handled fondue fork and dip in cheese fondue.

Baked Cheese Fondue Recipe

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients: 4 white bread slices, unsalted butter, softened, 1 cup shredded American cheese, 4 large eggs, beaten, 2 cups (500 ml) milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions: Spread sliced bread lightly with butter and cut into 1-inch (2.5 cm) squares. Lightly grease 1½-quart (1½L) casserole with nonstick cooking spray. In a greased casserole, arrange half of the squares. Top with half of cheese; repeat.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Mix well and pour over cheese. Set the casserole in a shallow baking pan on an oven rack. Fill the pan with enough hot water to come halfway up the side of the casserole.

Preheat the oven to 350º F (175º C). Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour and 25 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Serve cheese fondue hot.

Easy Swiss Cheese Fondue Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and halved
  • 1½ cups (375 ml) dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 1 pound (480 g) Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • French bread, cut into chunks

Method

Step 1

Rub inside of fondue pot with the halved garlic clove. Pour dry white wine into fondue pot. Heat over low heat until hot. Stir in brandy.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine shredded Swiss cheese and all-purpose flour. Toss well.

Step 3

Add cheese mixture to wine by handfuls, stirring constantly, using a wooden spoon, until cheese is melted. Stir in black pepper and ground nutmeg.

Step 4

Spear one chunk of French bread at a time on a long-handled fondue for. Dip into cheese fondue.
