Fried onion rings. Delicious onion rings fried in deep fryer.
- 1 large Bermuda onion,peeled and cut into rings
- 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt plus more to taste
- 1 large egg,beaten
- 1 cup(250 ml) milk
- 3/4 cup(60 g) bread crumbs
- 1 quart (1 L) oil for frying
In a small mixing bowl,combine all-purpose flour,1 teaspoon salt and baking powder. Stir well and set aside.
Dip onion rings into flour mixture until they are coated and set aside.
In another small bowl,combine beaten egg and milk. Stir well.
Using a fork,whisk egg mixture into flour mixture.
Dip the floured rings into the batter,then put them on a wire rack and let to drain.
Place bread crumbs on the shallow dish. Dip drained onion rings into bread crumbs.
Preheat oil in deep fryer to 365ºF (185º C).
Deep fry the rings,a few at a time,until golden brown (2-3 minutes). Pat dry with paper towels.
Season to taste with salt and serve.
