Mulled Wine

Mulled wine.Brandy based alcoholic mixed drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
  • 1²⁄³ oz(50 ml) brandy
  • 1²⁄³ oz(50 ml) Grand Marnier
  • 2 teaspoons caster sugar
  • 3 teaspoons clear honey
  • 2 oz(60 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 oz(60 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • few cloves
  • few star anise
  • 2 bay leaves

Method

Step 1

In a small cheesecloth spice bag,combine all spices. Place in a saucepan with dry red wine,brandy,and Grand Marnier.

Step 2

Add caster sugar and clear honey. Stir well until both are dissolved.

Step 3

Add juices and simmer for 1½ hours,stirring occasionally. Serve mulled wine hot in a heaterproof wine glass.
