Oven baked homemade apple pie recipe. Very easy and delicious fruit pie baked in the oven. An excellent dessert! This apple pie is a two-crust pie pastry based recipe. Fruit pie is always in season and fresh fruit in unavailable, canned and frozen products can be substituted.

Oven Baked Cherry Pie Recipe
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients: two-crust pie pastry, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 5 cups pitted fresh tart cherries, 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions: Prepare pastry. Roll out half of pastry and line 9-inch (22.5 cm) pie plate. Preheat oven to 425º F (220 ºC).
For filling, in a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and fresh pitted cherries. Mix well. Place filling in piecrust. Dot with unsalted butter. Roll out remaining pastry for top crust and cut a few slashes, then cover with slashed top crust and flute the edges.
Bake in preheated oven for 50-60 minutes until golden or until a toothpick inserted in the center of pie comes out clean.
Oven Baked Blackberry Pie Recipe
Makes 6 servings
Ingredients: two-crust pie pastry, 2/3-3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 5 cups fresh blackberries, 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions: Prepare two-crust pie pastry. roll out half of pastry and line 9-inches (22.5 cm) pie plate. Preheat oven to 425º F (210º C). Meanwhile, for filling, In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon peel, salt and fresh blackberries Toss well. Place blackberry filling into pie crust and dot with butter.
Roll out remaining pastry for top crust. Cut a few slashes and cover fruit filling with the slashed top crust, making decorative edges.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes until golden brown or until a toothpick inserted in the center of pie comes out clean.

- Two-Crust Pie Pastry
- 2/3-3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon each: ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and grated lemon peel
- 1-2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 pounds (960 g) thinly sliced, peeled and cored cooking apples
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Prepare two-crust pie pastry. Roll out half of pastry. Line 9-inches (22.5 cm) pie plate.
In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except apples, butter, and milk. mix well.
Place half of apples in pie crust. Sprinkle with spice mixture. Top with rest of apples, then rest of spice mixture.
Dot apple filling with unsalted butter.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 425 F (210 C).
Roll out remaining pastry for top cruat and cut out design. Place crust over apple pie and trim the edges.
Fold pastry overhand under, then bring up over pie-plate rim. Pinch to form a high edge and make your choice of decorative edge.
To have a golden edges, brush the top crust lightly with milk. bake in preheated oven for 40-50 minutes until golden or until a toothpick inserted in the center of pie comes out clean.
