Slow Cooker Five-Layer Bars Recipe

makes 16 servings

Ingredients: 1½ cups (375 ml) Graham cracker crumbs,1 tablespoon 915 ml) melted margarine, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) clear honey, 2/3 cup (160 ml) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, 1/3 cup (80 ml) flaked coconut, 1/3 cup ( chopped toasted walnuts, 1 can (15 oz (450 ml)) reduced-fat sweetened condensed milk

Instructions: In a bottom 7-inch (17.5 cm) springform pan, press combined Graham cracker crumbs, melted margarine, and honey. Sprinkle with semi-sweet chocolate morsels, flaked coconut, and toasted chopped walnuts. Pour in the condensed milk.

Place a pan on the rack in a 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker, then cover the pot and cook on a low-heat setting for 3-3½ hours or until milk is absorbed and cookies are firm to touch.

Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Cool cooked bars on the wire rack, then remove the side of the pan. Cut bars into wedges or squares. Serve warm or cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 ml) melted salted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method

Step 1

Line a 4-6-quart (4-6 l) slow cooker with aluminum foil.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and brown sugar. Stir well, then add vanilla extract and beaten eggs and mix until smooth. Stir in salt and all-purpose flour.

Step 3

Pour the batter into the bottom of foil-lined slow cooker. Sprinkle chocolate morsels on the top. Place piece of paper towel on the top and close the lid.

Step 4

Cook on high- heat setting for 2½-3 hours or until toothpick inserted in the middle of bar comes out clean.

Step 5

Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Remove cooked bars and transfer to a serving plate. Cool for 1 hour before cutting and serving.
