Instructions: Preheat the oven to 400º F (200º C). Place chunked apples in a 9×13-inch (22.5×32.5 cm) baking dish. Scatter with brown sugar and cubed butter evenly over the top of the apples. Cover tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, tossing once until the apples are very tender.
Turn off the oven and remove the baked apples. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Using a potato masher, mash apples. Taste, if the applesauce is too tart, add a little more brown sugar. Sprinkle with grated cinnamon.

- 1 cup (250 ml) snipped dried apples
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) water
- 1/4 cup frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
- 1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 6 cinnamon sticks, brocken into 1-inch (2.5 cm) pieces

Step 1
In a 3½-quart (3½ L) slow cooker, combine sliced apples, dried apples, sugar, water, apple juice, and cinnamon sticks. Mix well.
Step 2
Cover the slow cooker and cook on a low-heat setting for 6-8 hours.
Step 3
Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.
Step 4
Remove cooked apples from the slow cooker and transfer them to a large bowl. Using a potato masher, coarsely mash the apples. Cool slightly.
