Ingredients

  • 3 pounds (1.44 kg) pork roast, cut into large chunks
  • 1 medium sweet onion .peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup (250 ml) teriyaki sauce
  • 1-inch (2.5 cm) fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 8 buns, toasted

Method

Step 1

Place sliced onion in the bottom of a slow cooker. Place pork chunks in a single layer in the slow cooker. Pour teriyaki sauce over pork chunks.

Step 2

Add grated ginger. Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 8 hours.

Step 3

Remove cooked pork chunks from the slow cooker and shred meat, using a fork.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of water. Stir well and whisk into the juices left in the slow cooker.

Step 5

Cover slow cooker and cook on high-heat setting for 30 minutes, stirring once. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and stir it into teriyaki gravy.
