Watermelon margarita cocktail.Tequila based mixed drink.Delicious combination of fresh fruits and tequila.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (125 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) water
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 4 cups (1 kg) watermelon,cubed
  • 2 cups (500 g) strawberries,cleaned and hulled
  • 1½ cups (370 ml) tequila
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) orange liqueur
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice
  • salt and sugar for trimming
  • cubed watermelon and fresh blueberries for garnish

Method

Step 1

In a small sauce pan,combine water,sugar and orange zest. Mix well and bring mixture to a boil. Boil for about 1-2 minutes (just to dissolve sugar). Remove from the heat,strain out orange zest and set aside. Allow to cool completely.

Step 2

Meanwhile,in a blender,combine cubed watermelon and strawberries. Blend until smooth. Pour mixture over the strainer into a large bowl to remove solids.

Step 3

Return juice to a blender,add remaining ingredients and blend well. Pour mixture into a pitcher and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Step 4

In a small mixing bowl,combine salt and sugar. Stir well. Put salt and sugar mixture on a plate. Rub the rim of glasses with a quarter lime slice and dip them into the salt/sugar.

Step 5

Pour watermelon mixture into a glasses filled with cubed ice. Garnish with watermelon cubes and fresh blueberries.
