Alcoholic cocktail bloody Mary recipe. The most popular vodka-based mixed drink.Very easy and delicious! Garnish Bloody Mary with fresh celery and serve with ice cubes in a highball. Don’t have highballs?

The birthplace of this spiced mix was Paris, where In 1921 Fernand Peliot first time combined tomato juice, vodka, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

In 1934 Peliot moved to the United States. In New York, a customer, Prince Serge Obolensky, requested his drink be “spiced up”. Peliot added Tabasco sauce to this drink. From then, it names as a Bloody Mary.

You can also garnish this yummy drink with green olives, cheese cubes, lemon wedges, dried sausages, and cooked shrimp.

There is a non-alcoholic version of this mix also known as Virgin Mary or “Bloody Virgin” generally using the same ingredients and usually garnish as a Bloody Mary but with the vodka replaced by additional tomato juice or the prepared mix.

Alcoholic Cocktail Bloody Mary Recipe


  • Vodka based recipe:
  • 3 oz (90 ml) tomato juice (caned or freshly squeezed)
  • 1²⁄³ oz (50 ml) vodka
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and freshly grpound black pepper
  • Tequila based cocktail:
  • 3 oz (90 ml) tomato juice
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Tequila
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 3/8 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 3/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon lemon juice
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper


Step 1

Vodka-Based Recipe: Combine all ingredients in a special cocktail glass. Mix well all ingredients.

Step 2

Add cubed ice and stir. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Step 3

Tequila-Based Recipe: Combine all ingredients in a special cocktail glass. Add cubed ice. Then add salt, pepper, and mix, pouring from one glass to another.
