  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • For Sauce:
  • 28 oz (840 ml) can crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz (180 ml) can tomato paste
  • 1/3 yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and minced
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and red pepper flakes. Mix well. Form into 24 meatballs, then place in a 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker.

Step 2

In another mixing bowl, combine all sauce ingredients. Stir well and pour over meatballs.

Step 3

Close the pot. Cook on a low-heat setting for 5-6 hours or until meatballs are cooked through.

Step 4

Turn off the cooker and open the lid. Using a slotted spoon, remove cooked meatballs from the crock pot. Transfer to a serving plate. Pour the tomato sauce over. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
