Easy crock pot beer brat sandwiches recipe. Brats are kind of pork sausages that originates from Germany. Bratwurst sausages cooked in beer together with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions in crock pot, served in buns-this sandwiches hard to beat.

The sausages can be browned in a skillet or under the broiler before serving, if you desire.

Here is easy step to brown brats in skillet.

Bratwurst Sausages in Beer. For this recipe you need to use the following ingredients:1 pound (0.45 kg) bratwurst sausages, 3 12 oz (360 ml) each bottles of dark beer, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Using a fork, prick all sides of sausages.

Pour beer in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Place sausages in a boiling beer and cook  for 10 minutes.

Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

Using tongs, transfer sausages from the liquid to the skillet.

Cook in hot butter, turning frequently. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 fresh German Bratwurst sausages
  • 2-3 bottles (12 oz (360 ml) each beer
  • 1 cup sliced yellow onion
  • 1 cup sliced red and green bell pepper
  • 8 oz (240 g) sliced baby bella mushrooms
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 6-8 hot dog buns

Method

Step 1

In a crock pot, combine all ingredients, except seasoning and buns. Mix well.

Step 2

Cover crock pot and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours.

Step 3

Turn off crock pot. Open the lid and season sausage mixture with salt and black pepper.

Step 4

Serve brats in buns with vegetable mixture spooned over.
