Instant pot beef short ribs recipe. Beef ribs with vegetables and dry red wine cooked in an electric pressure cooker. You may also like Honey Ginger Pork Ribs, another delicious ribs recipe cooked in an instant pot.

Instant Pot Beef Short Ribs Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8-10 pieces bone-in beef short ribs
  • 6 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
  • 2 small yellow onions, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) dry red wine
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • chopped green onions

Method

Step 1

Heat olive oil in an electric instant pot turned to sauté mode. Season one side of ribs with salt and black pepper. Working in batches, brown for 4 minutes on each side (while one side is browned, season the other side with more salt and black pepper)

Step 2

Remove browned beef ribs from the pot, transfer to a seving plate and set aside. Add sliced onions to the pot and cook, stirring occasionally, until soften, for about 3 minutes. Stir in chopped garlic and continue cooking and stirring for a further 30 seconds.

Step 3

Pour in 1/2 cup (125 ml) red wine and deglaze by srabbing any browned bits from the bottom of the pot with wooden spoon. Mix the mixture and simmer for about 1 minute allowing some alcohol to evaporate.

Step 4

Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, bay leaves, and beef broth. Return beef ribs and their juices. Stir well.

Step 5

Close the pressure cooker and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook at high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 45 minutes.

Step 6

Uisng the natural Release method,bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Discard bay leaves. Uisng tongs, remove cooked ribs form the pot and transfer to a large plate. Pour liquid over.

Step 7

Sprinkle with chopped green onions. Serve hot.
