Oven baked creme brulee.Famous French dessert baked in oven.Very delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 ml) skim milk
  • 1 cups (250 ml) egg substitute
  • 8 egg whites
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons potato starch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 300 F (150 C). Pour skim milk into heavy saucepan and heat over medium heat until hot (do not boil!).

Step 2

On a large mixing bowl,combine egg whites,3/4 cup granulated sugar,potato starch and vanilla extract. Mix well. Gently mix egg mixture into hot milk. Cook over medium heat,stirring constantly with wooden spoon,until mixture coats the back of the spoon.

Step 3

Remove saucepan from the heat. Divide the mixture among 8 small oven-and broiler-proof glass dishes. Place in a baking sheet. Pour hot water in the bottom of baking dish until the water comes halfway up the sides of dessert dishes.

Step 4

Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until until knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove baked dessert form the oven. Set aside and cool completely. refrigerate for 2-3 hours.

Step 5

Preheat broiler on high heat. Sprinkle each dessert with with brown sugar and spread evenly to edges. Arrange desserts on a baking sheet and broil for about 1 minute until brown sugar is bubbly and melted.

Step 6

Remove creme brulee from the broiler. Serve immediately.
