A time-saver: they can cook food in less than half the time it would take in a regular pot. They save up to 70% of energy when compared to other cooking methods.

– A money saver: they use less power than any other cooking method. They also require less water and do not need constant supervision, which means they can be left unattended while cooking.

– A safety saver: the pressure cooker’s tightly sealed lid means there is no risk of water or steam coming into contact with you, which has been known to cause scalding burns. The tightly sealed lid also prevents any smells from escaping the pot, ensuring that your food will always taste as it should.

How long will it take to cook this dish in a pressure cooker?

The cooking time will depend on the size of the dish, the pressure setting, the thickness of the material it is made up of, and whether or not cold water has been added.

Pressure Cooker Ham and Honey Mustard Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups (375 ml) ginger ale
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) honey Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 ½-4 pounds (1.44-1.95 kg) boneless fully cooked ham
  • ground cloves

Method

Step 1

In a pressure cooker, place a trivet and steamer rack. Pour in ginger ale (the beer should just cover the bottom of the rack).

Step 2

In a small mixing bowl, combine mustard, brown sugar, and cloves. Mix well. Spread, using a pastry brush, over the surface of cooked ham.

Step 3

Place ham in a steamer basket, fat side up. Set the basket in the pot (make sure it doesn't exceed 2/3 full level).

Step 4

Close the pressure cooker and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook at high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 15 minutes for small ham, or for 20 minutes for larger ham.

Step 5

Using the Quick Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Let stand for 15 minutes.

Step 6

Transfer ham to a serving platter. Cover with aluminum foil and keep warm.
