Slow Cooker Barbecue Pork Loin Roast Recipe
makes 8 servings
Ingredients: teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) freshly ground black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes, 2 pounds (960 g) boneless pork loin roast, trimmed, 1½ cup (375 ml) ketchup, 8 oz (240 ml0 can tomato sauce with roasted garlic, 2 tablespoons 930 ml) brown sugar, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) molasses, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cayenne pepper, whole wheat buns or pita bread
instructions: Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. In a small mixing bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper. Mix well and rub the dry mixture over the pork loin.
Place seasoned pork in the greased slow cooker. Cover the pot and cook on a high-heat setting for 45-6- minutes, then reduce heat to low and cook for further 4½ hours.
Open the lid and remove the cooked pork from the slow cooker and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into large chunks. Return chunked meat to the slow cooker.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour barbecue sauce over pork and toss to mix. Cover the slow cooker and cook on a low-heat setting for 1 hour.
Turn off the pot and open the lid. Remove cooked pork from the cooker and transfer to a cutting board. using two forks, shred the meat. return shredded pork to the slow cooker and heat through.
Serve shredded barbecue pork on whole wheat buns or in pita bread.

- 2 pork tenderloins
- 1½ teaspoons Mrs. Dash seasoning
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons apple jelly
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 Granny Smeth apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
- 1 large yellow onion, peeled and thinly sliced
Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Rub pork tenderloins with black pepper and Mrs. Dash seasoning. Place seasoned meat in the greased skillet and brown over medium heat on both sides.
Lightly grease the inside of the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Place browned pork in the slow cooker, then add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
Cover the cooker and cook on a low-heat setting for 7-9 hours.
