First and foremost, you’ll need a generous amount of succulent chicken wings. These will serve as the foundation for our dish. Next, we have the star ingredient – apricot preserves. This sweet and tangy fruit preserve will add a unique twist to the traditional barbecue sauce.

To balance out the flavors, we’ll also be using some brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and a touch of cayenne pepper for a hint of heat. And don’t forget about the aromatic spices like paprika and ground ginger that will elevate the taste profile of our wings.

Lastly, we’ll need some cornstarch to create a thick and luscious glaze. So, make sure you have all these ingredients ready before we move on to the next step. Get your shopping list ready and let’s gather everything we need to create this delightful masterpiece!

Now that we have all the essential ingredients ready, it’s time to dive into the exciting process of preparing our chicken wings. The first step is to generously season the wings with a blend of salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. This will ensure that every bite is packed with flavor.

Once seasoned, we’ll move on to coating the wings in a mixture of apricot preserves, brown sugar, soy sauce, and a touch of cayenne pepper for a hint of heat.

This sticky and tangy glaze will give our wings that irresistible sweet and savory taste. Make sure to coat each wing evenly to ensure a consistent flavor throughout.

With the wings seasoned and coated, we’re now ready to transfer them to the slow cooker and let the magic happen. Stay tuned as we witness the flavors infuse and the wings become absolutely irresistible!

Now that our wings are seasoned and coated to perfection, it’s time for the slow-cooking magic to begin. We’ll transfer the wings into the trusty slow cooker, where they will spend the next few hours simmering away and infusing with all the delicious flavors.

As the heat gently envelops the wings, the apricot preserves, brown sugar, soy sauce, and cayenne pepper glaze will slowly melt and meld together, creating a mouthwatering aroma that will fill your kitchen.

The low and slow cooking process allows the flavors to intensify and develop, ensuring that every bite is bursting with sweet and tangy delight. So sit back, relax, and let the slow cooker work its magic.

In just a few hours, you’ll be rewarded with tender, juicy chicken wings that are simply irresistible.

Get ready to indulge in a flavor sensation like no other!

Slow Cooker Apricot BBQ Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds (1.9 kg) chicken wings, frozen
  • 2 cups (500 ml) bbq sauce
  • 1 cup (250 ml) apricot preserves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Method

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except chicken wings. Mix well, then remove 1/2 cup (125 ml) of the spice mixture, cover, and refrigerate.

Step 2

Place chicken wings in a 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker. Pour the mixture over to cover the meat completely.

Step 3

Close the pot and cook on a low-heat setting for 6-8 hours.

Step 4

Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Remove cooked wings from the cooker and transfer them to a serving plate. Cover and keep warm.

Step 5

Meanwhile, set the oven to broil. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Arrange chicken wings on the lined baking sheet.

Step 6

Broil for about 2 minutes, then remove the pan from the oven, flip the wings, and brush with reserved 1/2 cup of sauce. Return wings to the oven and broil for a further 3-5 minutes. Serve hot.
