Slow Cooker Beef Steak in Wine Sauce

- 2-pounds (960g) beef round steak,cut into 1-inch thick,fat removed
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup sliced carrot
- 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
- 16 oz (480 ml) can tomatoes,cut up
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) Burgundy wine
- 1 clove garlic,minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Cut beef steak into six equal pieces. Combine together flour, salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Mix well. Coat meat with mixture.
Pound beef steak to 1/2-inch thickness, using a meat mallet. Cook meat in hot oil until browned. Drain.
Combine onion, carrot, and green pepper in slow cooker. Arrange beef atop. Combine tomatoes,wine, garlic, and sugar. Mix well. Pour mixture over meat.
Reserve 1½ cups of the cooking liquid for Wine Sauce(recipe follows). Spoon a little sauce over slow cooker beef steak. Pass remaining sauce.
Wine Sauce: Pour reserved liquid into saucepan. Blend 1/4 cup cold water into, tablespoons all-purpose flour. Stir into liquid. Cook, till bubbly. Season to taste.
