Slow Cooker Chicken Adobo Recipe


  • 3 pounds (1.44 kg) chicken pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1 whole head garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • chopped green onions


Step 1

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Working in batches, add and cook until browned.

Step 2

Remove browned meat from the pan and transfer to a slow cooker. In a medium mixing bowl, combine vinegar, soy sauce, and water. Mix well, then pour the mixture over chicken. Evenly distribute crushed garlic and bay leaves.

Step 3

Cover the pot and cook on low-heat setting for 4-6 hours or until chicken is tender.

Step 4

Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Using tongs, remove cooked chicken pieces from the pot and transfer to serving plates. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
