South of the Border London Broil Recipe
Fried London broil steaks with vegetables, dry white wine, and spices. Very tasty!
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 4 London broil steaks, 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, 1 yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped, 2 garlic cloves, peeled, smashed, and chopped, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, 1/2 cup (125 ml) dry white wine, 28 oz (840 ml) can tomatoes, drained and chopped, 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano, 1/4 teaspoon grated ginger, salt, and freshly ground black pepper, few crushed chilies
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 150º F (75º C). Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. When hot, reduce heat to medium, add steaks, and cook for 8-10 minutes. Turn meat 3-4 times during cooking and once seared, season well.
Remove seared steaks from the heat and transfer them to an ovenproof platter. Keep hot in preheated oven.
In another frying pan, heat butter over medium-high heat. When hot, reduce heat to medium, add chopped onion, garlic, and parsley. Mix well and cook, stirring for 3 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high, pour in dry white wine, and cook for further 3-4 minutes or until most of the wine evaporates.
Stir in tomatoes and spices, then reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes. Pour sauce over the cooked London broil steaks. Serve with fresh green vegetables.
London Broil Steaks with Tomato and Mushroom Sauce Recipe
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 4 London broil steaks, 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, 2 green onions, sliced, 1/2 pound (240 g) mushrooms, sliced, 2 cups (500 ml) canned tomatoes, drained and chopped, 1 garlic clove, peeled, smashed and chopped, 1½ cups (375 ml) brown sauce, heated, salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 150º F (75º C). In a large frying pan heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, reduce heat to medium, add steaks, and cook for 8-10 minutes. Turn steaks 3-4 times during cooking. Once seared, season well with salt and black pepper.
Transfer seared meat to an ovenproof platter and keep hot in preheated oven. Melt butter in the frying pan. Add onions and mushrooms. Season well with salt and black pepper. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring, for further 3 minutes.
Add drained tomatoes and garlic. Mix well. Continue cooking for 3 minutes over medium heat. Stir in brown sauce and cook for further 3 minutes. Add seasoning if needed. Pour sauce over steaks. Serve hot.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds (960 g) London broil steaks
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce
- 1 large yellow onion, peeled and sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) cornstarch
- 1½ cups (375 ml) chicken broth
- salt and freshly ground blck pepper
- chopped fresh dill, for garnish
Method
Step 1
Season London broil steaks with salt and black pepper.
Step 2
In a 6-quart (6L) slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Stir well to mix cornstarch around.
Step 3
Cover the slow cooker and cook on a low-heat setting for 6 hours.
Step 4
Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Using tongs, remove cooked steaks from the cooker. Transfer to a cutting board. Slice it against the grain.
Step 5
Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Sprinkle with chopped fresh dill.
