Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Red Cabbage Stew Recipe

This super delicious beef stew belongs to Irish cuisine.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:  1 pound (480 g) lean corned beef, cut into cubes, 1 pound (480 g) red cabbage, coarsely sliced, 1/2 cup (125 ml) reduced-sodium fat-free chicken broth,  4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes, 1 cup sliced carrots, 1 cup cubed turnips, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon pickling spice, salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions: In 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker, combine all ingredients, except seasoning. Cover cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours. Turn off slow cooker and open the lid. Season Irish beef stew with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well. Ladle stew into soup bowls. Serve hot.

Slow Cooker Curried Beef Stew with Chive Biscuits Recipe

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients: 2 pounds (960 g) lean beef stew meat, 1½ cups (375 ml) reduced-sodium fat-free beef broth, 1½ cups chopped yellow onions, 1 large tomato, coarsely chopped, 1½ teaspoons curry powder, 2 bay leaves, salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste, 10 oz (30 g) frozen peas, thawed, 4 biscuits, baked and halved, melted margarine, chopped fresh chives

Instructions: Cut 1 pound (480 g) beef into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes. Coarsely chop remaining 1 pound (480 g) lean beef. In a 4-6 quart (4-6 L) slow cooker, combine all ingredients, except seasoning, peas, biscuits, margarine, and chives.

Cover cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours. Open slow cooker and discard bay leaves. Season to taste with salt and black pepper, then stir well. Stir in thawed peas and place biscuit halves, cut sides down, on beef stew. Cover and cook for further 15 minutes.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef Stew Recipe


  • 1 ½ pounds (760 g) cubed beef
  • 2-3 carrots, chunked
  • 3-4 ribs celery, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup (250 g) chopped onions
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) minute tapioca
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire auce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning


Step 1

Combine all ingredients in slow cooker.

Step 2

Cover and cook on Low-heat setting 8-10 hours, or until tender.

    In the picture for the Italian Roast, it has some green garnish or herbs. Is that flat-leaf Italian parsley or something else?

      Yes,this is flat-leaf Italian parsley,chopped.Just sprinkle over stew,when it’s well cooked.
