Slow Cooker Turkey Meatballs
Ingredients
- 1 pound (480 g) extra lean ground turkey
- 1/4 cup egg substitute
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons skim milk
- 1 red bell pepper,sliced
- 10 oz (300 ml) bottle sweet and sour sauce
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Method
Step 1
Combine turkey, egg substitute, breadcrumbs, and milk in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
Step 2
Pinch off a 1-inch (2.5ย cm) piece of the turkey mixture. Roll into balls.
Step 3
Lightly grease a nonstick skillet with oil. Heat it over medium-high heat. Put meatballs in skillet. Brown turkey meatballs on all sides.
Step 4
Combine the remaining ingredients in the slow cooker. Mix well. Add cooked turkey meatballs. Stir to coat with sauce.
Step 5
Cover and cook on a low-heat setting for 4-5 hours. Serve slow cooker turkey meatballs hot.
