Slow cooker wine-braised beef stew. Cubed beef with vegetables and dry red wine cooked in slow cooker. The slow cooking gives this delicious dish a rich flavor. Just try to make it! You may also like Crock Pot Stuffed Bell Peppers or Slow Cooker Lemon-Garlic Chicken
Slow Cooker Wine-Braised Beef Stew
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds (720 g) boneless beef round steak, cubed
- 1 cups (250 ml) low-sodium fat-free beef broth
- 1 cup (250 ml) tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) dry red wine
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
- 6 small potatoes, peeled and halved
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 2 bay leaves
- 1- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold water
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method
Step 1
In 5-quart(6 L) slow cooker, combine all ingredients, except cornstarch, water, and seasoning. Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours.
Step 2
Increase heat to high and cook for a further 10 minutes. Gently stir in combined cornstarch and water, stirring 2-3 minutes.
Step 3
Discard bay leaves and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve slow cooker wine-braised beef stew hot.

When do you add the seasoning …. instructions are to leave out on step 1.

Seasoning is the last step. When you’re turning off your pot and opening the lid, add seasoning and stir well.
