The Best Homemade Instant Pot Tomato Sauce


  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, peeled and diced
  • 2 small carrots, peeled and idced
  • 2 celery sticks, diced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 small beets, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 5 mushrooms, diced
  • 1/2 zucchini, diced
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves
  • 5 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and sliced
  • 3 x 33 z (400 ml) whole tomatoe in juice, undrained
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) water


Step 1

Heat the olive oil in an electric instant pot turned to the sauté function. Add diced onions, carrots, and celery to hot oil and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add the remaining ingredients, then pour in half a cup of water. Stir ingredients well.

Step 3

Close the instant pot and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook at high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 10 minutes,

Step 4

Using the Natural Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Stir the mixture well.

Step 5

Using an immersion blender, puree the mixture into the thick sauce. Remove bleneded sauce form the pot and transfer to a serving bowl. Use for any kinds of pasta, tortellini, or pizza.
