How to Make Baked Chicken Parmesan

Baking cutlets has two big benefits. You can use less oil and make fewer dishes to wash up than if you had fried them. Heat your oven to 450ยฐF. Cut the chicken into halves lengthwise. This will make it cook faster and taste better. It will take around 25 minutes for the thinner pieces to cook. Instead of using an egg wash, brush some butter or olive oil onto the chicken before putting on the bread crumbs.

Cook Chicken Parmesan In a Slow Cooker/Crockpot

You can cook it in a slow cooker if desired (recipe adapted from https://www.chef-in-training.com/).

To make this recipe in the slow cooker, you need to use the following ingredients: 2-4 boneless and skinless chicken breasts,

2-4 boneless and skinless chicken breasts, 1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 large egg, beaten, sliced or shredded Mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce

Instructions: Lightly grease the slow cooker with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. In a small mixing bowl, combine grated Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, and seasoning. Mix well. Dip chicken breasts into beaten egg, then into breadcrumb mixture, coating well both sides of meat with egg and breadcrumb mixture. Place chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with 2-3 slices of Mozzarella cheese. Pour over marinara sauce.

Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 5-6 hours, or until chicken breasts are tender. Turn off the slow cooker. Using tongs, remove cooked chicken from the slow cooker and transfer it to a serving platter. Serve over the cooked pasta.

Baked Chicken Breast Parmesan Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 boneless and skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise (such as Hellmann's)
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) pasta sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 F (220 C).

Step 2

In a mixing bowl,combine bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well and set aside.

Step 3

In a large plastic bag,combine chicken breasts and mayonnaise. Shake well to evenly coat.

Step 4

Remove chicken breasts from the bag. Dip into bread crumb mixture. Arrange breaded chicken breasts on a baking sheet.

Step 5

Place baking sheet in preheated oven. Bake for 20 minutes.

Step 6

Top baked chicken breasts with pasta sauce,then with shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake fro a further 3 minutes,or until chicken is thoroughly cooked and cheese is melted.
