Classic Michelada cocktail recipe. The Michelada is a very popular Mexican mixed drink that spices up Mexican lager beer with red chili sauce and other spices. Like a Bloody Mary, it is savory, spicy, and tart. That’s why this cocktail is one of the most refreshing and flavorful summer beer drinks.

Michelada Con Camarones Recipe (Spicy Beer Cocktail with Shrimp)
Makes 4 drinks
Ingredients: 24 cooked and peeled shrimp, 2½ cups (625 ml) Clamato juice, 1/2 cup (125 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice, plus extra for glass rims, 1/4 cup 960 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce, 3/4 teaspoon (3 ml) freshly ground black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) kosher salt, 1 large clove garlic, peeled, 1/2 serrano chili, stemmed, 4 bottles (320 ml) each lager beer, chili powder
Instructions: Pour some lime juice into a small plate. Place chili powder on another small plate. Dip rims of 4 pint-size (2 L) beer mugs first in lime juice, then in chili powder.
Dip tops of shrimp in chili powder and set aside. In a blender, combine Clamato juice, lime juice, orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic, and serrano chile. Purée until smooth.
Pour juice mixture into mugs and fill with cubed ice. Top each mug with Mexican lager beer. Tread shrimp into wood skewers and place them across each mug.
Classic Michelada Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 ml) tomato juice
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon red chili sauce
- 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 cans (320 ml each) Mexican lager beer
- salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 lemon wedge
- 1 small tomato, chopped
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 1 samll jalapeno, chopped
Method
Step 1
In a medium mixing bowl, combine tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce, and lime juice. Mix well and set aside.
Step 2
In a flat plate, combine salt and red chili powder. Stir well.
Step 3
Rub the lemon wedge around the outer circle of cocktail glass rim. Dip cockatil glass into the spicy mixture. Set aside.
Step 4
Pour the tomato mixture half way in the rimmed cocktail glasses. Top with the beer and lightly stir.
Step 5
Thread chopped tomatoes and jalapenos into wooden toothpicks. Place the toothpick decoration across the the rim og glasses. Serve immediately.
