Crock Pot Family Favorite Beef Stew Recipe
You can use your favorite vegetables to prepare this delicious stew.
Makes 8 servings
Ingredients: 2 pounds (960 g) lean beef stew meat, cut into cubes, 14½ oz (435 ml) can diced tomatoes, undrained, 1 cup (350 ml) low-sodium fat-free beef broth, 2 cups cubed unpeeled potatoes, 2 cups peeled and cubed turnips, 1½ cups chopped yellow onions, 1 cup thickly sliced carrots, 2 large ribs celery, sliced, 4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced, 3/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, 34/ teaspoon dried thyme leaves, 1 bay leaf, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold water, 2-3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions: In a 6-quart (6 l) crock pot, combine all ingredients, except cornstarch, water, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning. Cover cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours. Increase heat to high and cook for a further 10 minutes. Open the crockpot and stir in combined cornstarch and water, stirring 2-3 times.
Discard bay leaf. Season beef stew with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Turn off the slow cooker. Ladle stew into dip soup bowls. Serve hot.

- 2 pounds (960 g) stewing beef, cubed
- 2/3 cup (160 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 14 ½ oz (435 ml) can diced tomatoes in juice, undrained
- 8 oz (240 ml) tomato sauce
- 14 ½ oz (435 ml) can beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 teaspoons kitchen bouquet
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon Hungarian sweet paprika
- 4 celery heart ribs, chopped
- 5 mushrooms
- 3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- 1 large yellow onion, peeled and chopped
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Dredge meat in seasoned flour, then brown it in oil in the saucepan.
Place in slow cooker.
In another bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Mix well. Pour mixture over seasoned meat in slow cooker and mix again.
Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 10-12 hours. Stir well before serving.
