Delicious Bratwurst Sliders
Ingredients
- 12 slider buns
- For the BEER BRAISED ONIONS:1 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large onion, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 bottle German lager beer
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- For the Beer Cheese:10 oz (300 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 pound (120 g) shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (250 ml) German lager beer
- 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
- hot and Worcestershire sauces to taste
- 6-10 cooked bratwurst sausages, cut into quarters
Method
Step 1
In a medium frying pan, combine onion and 1 tablespoon of butter. Sauté the onion over medium-high heat until soft and translucent. Add sugar, seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and pour in a bottle of German lager beer. Cook over medium heat until the onions caramelize and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
Step 2
Remove cooked onions from the frying pan and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm. Add bratwurst sausages to the frying pan and sauté over medium heat until the skin has slightly crisped in spots.
Step 3
In a mixing bowl, combine cheddar and Gruyère cheeses and all-purpose flour. Mix well and set aside.
Step 4
Pour 1 cup of German lager beer into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add minced garlic. Simmer and add the cheese mixture slowly. Stir well, using a wooden spoon, to melt the cheese evenly.
Step 5
After the cheeses are completely melted, add a tablespoon of brown mustard and a few drops of each hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well.
Step 6
Serve bratwurst, warm beer cheese, and onions on rolls.
