Instant Pot Ham and Bean Soup Recipe
Notice: Soak Navy beans in water for 2 hours before using.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds (720 g) cubed ham
- 1 pound (480 g) Navy beans, soaked
- 6 cups (1.5 L) low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 large yellow onion, peeled and chopped
- 3 ribs celery, chopped
- 3 carrots, peeled and sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Method
Step 1
In a 6-quart (6 L) electric instant pot, combine all ingredients. Stir well, making sure beans are fully submerged.
Step 2
Close the pot and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook at high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 35 minutes.
Step 3
Using the Natural Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Stir the soup well before serving.
Step 4
Ladle into soup bowls. Serve hot.
