Oven Baked Chicken Drumsticks Recipe

Baked chicken drumsticks are a perfect way to prepare juicy and tender chicken.

Makes 10 servings

Ingredients: 1/3 cup (80 ml) olive oil, freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon, 2 teaspoons (10 ml) garlic powder, 2 teaspoons (10 ml) onion powder, 2 teaspoons (10 ml) salt, 1/4 cup (60 ml) Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup (60 ml) brown sugar, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) freshly ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika, 10 chicken drumsticks

Instructions: In a medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except chicken. Whisk well. Place chicken drumsticks in a large Zip Lock bag, then pour the marinade over. Seal the bag tightly and toss the chicken for a few seconds.

Refrigerate marinated chicken drumsticks for at least 30 minutes (to achieve the best result, allow the chicken to marinate for 12 hours).

Preheat the oven to 425º F (210º C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil, then spray with nonstick cooking spray. Remove marinated chicken drumsticks from the refrigerator. Take them out from the bag and arrange them in one layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes, then flip them and continue baking for a further 5-10 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Serve hot.

Note: If you would like to have crispy skin, add 2/3 cup (160 ml) of all-purpose flour to your marinade.

Simple Baked Crispy Chicken Drumsticks Recipe

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients: 3 pounds (1.44 kg) chicken drumsticks, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Italian seasoning, 1¼ teaspoons (6 ml) salt, 1½ tablespoons (22 ml) onion powder, ½ tablespoon (22 ml) garlic powder, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon (5 ml)  freshly ground white pepper, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) bouillon powder

Instructions: Wash chicken drumsticks and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange chicken in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Refrigerate uncovered, for at least 3 hours.

Preheat the oven to 425º F (210º C). Remove chicken drumsticks from the refrigerator and transfer to a large bowl. Stir in all spices, then drizzle with olive oil. Line a baking sheet with an aluminum foil and top with a wire rack.

Arrange seasoned chicken in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through, flipping once. Serve hot with your favorite sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds (1.44 kg) chicken drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) ketchup
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped dried parsley
  • salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Season chicken drumsticks with salt. Place in a 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker.

Step 2

In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté, stirring occasionally, until onion is translucent. Stir in dried parsley.

Step 3

In a small mixing bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, and water. Mix until the sugar is dissolved completely. Add onion mixture and stir well. Pour ketchup mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.

Step 4

Cover the pot and cook on a low-heat setting for 5 hours.

Step 5

Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Transfer baked chicken drumsticks with any accumulated juices to serving plates. Serve immediately.
