Slow cooker cheesy spaghetti with sausages.Italian spaghetti with cheese and turkey sausages cooked on slow cooker.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (480 g) lean ground turkey sausage
  • 24 oz (720 g) spaghetti sauce(no sugar added)
  • 8 oz (240 g) uncooked spaghetti,broken into small pieces
  • 1 cup (250 g) low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1 cup (250 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (250 g) low-fat ricotta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper and kosher salt to taste
  • For Turkey Sausage:1 pound (480 g) lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Method

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl,combine ground turkey,garlic powder,sage,cayenne pepper,oregano and black pepper. Mix well.

Step 2

Add sausage mixture to a nonstick large skillet. Cook over medium heat,breaking sausages into small pieces while cooking. Drain and discard any fat. Set cooked sausages aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl,combine cooked sausages with marinara sauce. Mix well.

Step 4

In a medium bowl,combine sausage mixture with remaining ingredients,except spaghetti. Stir and add to slow cooker. Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 2 hours until cheeses are bubbly.

Step 5

Add spaghetti and 3/4 cup (180 ml) water. Stir well and cook for a further 1 hour until spaghetti cooked through. Serve hot.
