Slow Cooker General Tso Chicken Wings Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 pounds (960 g) chicken wings
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- kosher salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, to garnish
- chopped green onions
Method
Step 1
Place chicken wings in a 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, cayenne pepper, ginger, and black pepper. Mix well. Season with kosher salt to taste, then add cornstarch and stir until combined. Pour the soy mixture over the chicken and toss well to combine.
Step 3
Cover the pot. Cook on a high-heat setting for 2Β½-3 hours or until wings are cooked through.
Step 4
Turn off the cooker and open the lid. Remove cooked chicken wings from the slow cooker and transfer them to a serving plate.
Step 5
Heat the broiler. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Arrange cooked wings onto them. Broil until crispy, for about 5 minutes.
Step 6
Remove baked wings from the broiler and transfer them to a serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot.
