Ingredients
- For Butter:
- 1½ cups biscuit baking mix
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) sour cream
- 1 egg,beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
- For Glaze:
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) orange juice
- 2 cups powdered sugar,sifted
- 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
Method
Step 1
Lightly grease inside a 4½-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Cut a waxed paper circle to fit the bottom of the slow cooker. Lightly grease with cooking spray.
Step 2
In a medium mixing bowl, combine baking mix, sugar, and poppy seeds. Whisk well and set aside.
Step 3
In another mixing bowl, combine sour cream, beaten egg, milk, vanilla, and orange peel. Blend well and whisk the egg mixture into the dry mixture until thoroughly blended.
Step 4
Spoon the batter into the prepared slow cooker and smooth the top. Place a paper towel under the slow cooker lid, then cover it tightly. Cook on a high-heat setting for 1½ hours.
Step 5
Transfer the glazed orange poppy seed cake onto a cooling rack. Peel off waxed paper and allow it to cool completely on a cooling rack.
