The key to avoiding this is by understanding the air fryer’s temperature settings, which are usually different for different foods. For example, you need to set the temperature for fried chicken at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

To avoid burning your food in an air fryer, make sure that you have enough ventilation around the food and keep the lid on tightly while cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) peach preserves
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 oz (30 ml) white vinegar
  • 1 oz (30 ml) bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1½ teaspoons water
  • 2 pounds (960 g) chicken wings

Method

Step 1

Preheat your air fryer to 400 F (200 C) for 5 minutes.

Step 2

In a blender or food processor, combine peach preserves, brown sugar, minced garlic, and salt. Blend until smooth.

Step 3

Transfer the peach mixture to a small saucepan. Stir in vinegar and bourbon. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Reduce heat low and simmer, uncovered, for 4-6 minutes, or until slightly thickened. In a small mixing bowl, combine cornstarch and water. Stir until cornstarch is dissolved completely. Stir into the preserve mixture. Switch the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, for a further 1-2 minutes.

Step 5

Remove the pan from the heat. Reserve 1/4 cup (60 ml) sauce for serving.

Step 6

Grease the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. Working in batches, place chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip and brush with peach mixture. Continue cooking until browned, for a further 6-8 minutes. Serve hot with reserved sauce.
