Chinese spare ribs. Fried pork ribs served with tasty homemade hoisin and soy sauce. You may also like Peach Ribs, another delicious pork ribs recipe cooked in a slow cooker.
Chinese Spare Ribs
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds (720 g) pork spare ribs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- For Sauce:
- 1/2-inch (1.2 cm) piece of root ginger,shredded
- 2 green pepper, deseeded and cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dry sherry
- 2 tablespoons tomato puree
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 4 tablespoons cornflour
- 3 tablespoons pineapple juice
Method
Step 1
Separate the pork into ribs. Cook in boiling water for 15 minutes. Drain and dry on kitchen paper.
Step 2
Preheat olive oil in large frying pan. Add ribs and stir in hoisin and soy sauce. Cook gently for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Prepare Sauce: Preheat oil in saucepan. Add crushed garlic, ginger, and green pepper and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in soy sauce,dry sherry,tomato puree,vinegar and sugar.
Step 4
In mixing bowl, combine cornflour, pineapple juice and water. Mix well and add to the saucepan.
Step 5
Bring mixture to the boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Place Chinese spare ribs in a warming serving plate. Pour sauce over. Serve immediately with boiled rice.
