Ingredients
- 6 skinless chicken drumsticks
- 1 tablespoon vegetale oil
- 4 whole green cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 12 black peppercorns
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 large yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Method
Step 1
Heat the vegetable oil in an electric instant pot turned to saute mode. Add whole spices-cardamom, cloves, black peppercorns, and cumin. Saute, stirring, for 30 seconds.
Step 2
Add chopped onion and mix well. Saute for a further 2 minutes, covered with a glass lid.
Step 3
Stir in ginger, garlic, turmeric, Kashmiri chili powder, cumin, coriander, and salt. Add the chicken drumsticks and water. Mix well.
Step 4
Close the pot and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook to high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 8 minutes.
Step 5
Using the Natural Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Using tongs, remove cooked chicken drumsticks and transfer them to a large plate. Add a few spoonfuls of cooking liquid to the yogurt. Mix well.
Step 6
Add the yogurt mixture to the cooking liquid. Switch the cooker to saute mode. Cook, stirring occasionally until the sauce is thickened. Pour the sauce over the chicken drumsticks. Serve immediately.
