Instant Pot Pasta with Sausages and Cannellini Beans


  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 19½ oz package turkey Italian sausages, removed from casing
  • 1 small yellow onion, peeled and diced
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
  • 3 cups (750 ml) low-sodium chicken broth
  • 12 oz (360 g) whole wheat penne pasta
  • 28 oz (840 ml) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 6 oz (180 g) fresh baby spinach
  • 1 redpeppers, seeded and chopped
  • chopped fresh parsley, to garnish


Step 1

Heat the olive oil in an instant pot turned to the sauté mode. Add sausages and onions, Cook, stirring occasionally, until sausages are no longer pink and onions are translucent. Stir in garlic and continue cooking for a further 1-2 minutes or until garlic is fragrant.

Step 2

Pour in the broth, then add pasta, beans, and oregano. Stir well to combine.

Step 3

Close the pot and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook at high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Using the Quick Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Add spinach and chopped red pepper and recover the cooker. Let wilt for 2- minutes. Stir well.

Step 5

Transfer cooked pasta and sausages to a serving plate. Sprinkle with chopped fresh spinach. Serve hot.
