Oven baked cheesy mussels recipe. Raw mussels with breadcrumbs, garlic, and Parmesan cheese mixture baked in an oven. Mussels must be alive when cooked, the shells unbroken and tightly closed. First, rinse mussels thoroughly under running cold water to remove all sand, then discard any that remain open.

Using a stiff metal brush, scrub clean, scraping off any loose barnacles with a knife. And finally, using shears, clip off beards.
To steam mussels, place them in a large pot with a small amount of boiling water. Cover tightly and simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or until all the shells open up. Discard any unopened shells.

Here is a very simple mussels recipe:

Cooked Mussels Mariniere Recipe

Serves 1-2
Ingredients: 12 mussels (about 2 inches (5 cm) long), 1 small yellow onion, peeled and thinly sliced, 3/4 cup (180 ml) dry white wine, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, dash white pepper, salt, and freshly ground black pepper, 2 tablespoons each: coarse breadcrumbs, chopped fresh parsley

Instructions: Place well-scrubbed mussels in a saucepan with the onion, dry white wine, butter, garlic, and white pepper. Cover and cook quickly over high heat until the mussels open (for about 3 minutes). When they are all open, add the breadcrumbs and heat for a further 1 minute.

Turn off the heat. Transfer cooked mussels to a dip serving platter. Finally, serve on a hot soup plate sprinkled with fresh chopped parsley and accompanied by dry white wine. You may also like Cheese Baked Green Mussels
