Oven-Baked Mackerel Fillets Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (960 g) new potatoes
  • 4 mackerel fillets, cooked and flaked
  • 1 yellow onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 1/3 cups (580 ml) creme fraiche
  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoons wholegrain mustard
  • 3 oz (90 g) breadcrumbs
  • 2 oz (60 g) oats
  • 2 oz (60 g) Cheddar cheese
  • freshly ground black pepper

Method

Step 1

In a large saucepan, boil the new potatoes until soft. Drain and slice potatoes thickly.

Step 2

Lightly grease the ovenproof dish with cooking spray. Arrange a layer of potato on the base, then flaked mackerel and onion. Repeat operation, finishing with a layer of potato.

Step 3

Combine together the creme fraiche, milk, and mustard. Mix well and season with black pepper to taste. Pour mixture over the layers.

Step 4

Combine the breadcrumbs, oats, and cheese. Mix well. Season mixture with black pepper. Arrange on the high rack of the turbo oven. Set turbo oven temperature to 400°F(205°C). Cover halogen oven and cook for 20-25 minutes until golden. Serve oven-baked mackerel hot.
