A pressure cooker is a kitchen appliance that cooks food quickly by applying heat under pressure. It is used in many cuisines, including Indian, Chinese, Mexican, and French. Pressure cookers are available in electric and stovetop models.

The pressure cooker works by regulating the amount of water vapor inside the pot to create steam that builds up pressure as it condenses back into liquid water. The steam pressure then forces the lid to stay closed and prevents air from entering or leaving the pot while cooking food.
