Slow cooker baked apple dessert recipe. Apple slices with cinnamon, nutmegs and lemon juice cooked in a slow cooker and served with frozen nonfat yogurt.

Slow Cooker Maple-Granola-Stuffed Baked Apples Recipe

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients: 3/4 cup Grape Nuts cereal, 1/4 cup raisins, 1/2 cup (125 ml) lite maple syrup, ground cinnamon, 4 large McIntosh apples, cored

Instructions: In a small mixing bowl, combine cereal, raisins, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Mix well. Fill cavity of each cored apple with celeriac mixture. Place stuffed apples in slow cooker and add 1 inch (2.5 cm) water to the bottom of cooker.

Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 3-4 hours.

Turn off the slow cooker and remove the lid. Remove cooked apples from the cooker and transfer to a serving platter. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon just before serving. Serve hot.

Slow Cooker Baked Apple Dessert Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (960 g) Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 cups (750 ml) nonfat frozen yogurt

Method

Step 1

Grease inside of slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 2

Place apple slices in the bottom of 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker.

Step 3

In a small mixing bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and sprinkle mixture over apples. Drizzle with lemon juice.

Step 4

Cover slow cooker and cook on low heat setting for 7-8 hours.

Step 5

Turn off slow cooker and remove the lid. Spoon hot apple slices into dessert dishes. Top each dish with 1/2 cup (125 ml) frozen yogurt. Serve immediately.
