Slow cooker honey-mustard chicken wings. Chicken wings with delicious homemade honey-mustard sauce cooked in a slow cooker

How to Make Honey-Mustard Chicken Wings

To make these wings, start by preparing the honey-mustard sauce. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup (125 ml) of clear honey and 1/2 cup (125 ml) of barbecue sauce. Add 2 tablespoons of spicy brown mustard for an extra kick of flavor. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Next, place 3 pounds (1.44 kg) of chicken wings in the slow cooker. Pour the honey-mustard sauce over the wings, making sure they are evenly coated. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 4-5 hours or on high heat for 2-3 hours. The slow cooking process allows the flavors to meld together and the chicken to become tender.

Once the wings are cooked, you can serve them as is or broil them in the oven for a few minutes to achieve a crispy exterior. The choice is yours!

These slow cooker honey-mustard chicken wings are perfect for game day gatherings, parties, or even as a weeknight dinner option. The combination of sweet honey, tangy mustard, and smoky barbecue sauce creates a delightful flavor profile that will leave everyone wanting more. Enjoy these finger-licking wings with your favorite dipping sauce and watch them disappear in no time.

Honey-Mustard Chicken Wings Serving Suggestions

Once your slow cooker honey-mustard chicken wings are cooked to perfection, it’s time to think about how to serve them. These delicious wings can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, whether you’re hosting a party or simply looking for a tasty weeknight dinner option.

One popular serving suggestion is to serve the wings as an appetizer or finger food. Arrange the wings on a platter and provide toothpicks or small skewers for easy grabbing. You can also offer a selection of dipping sauces to complement the flavors of the honey-mustard sauce. Some popular options include ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, or even a spicy sriracha mayo.

If you’re serving the wings as a main course, consider pairing them with some delicious sides. A fresh green salad with a tangy vinaigrette or a creamy coleslaw can provide a refreshing contrast to the rich and flavorful wings. For a heartier meal, serve the wings with some crispy french fries or sweet potato wedges.

For a game day gathering or a casual get-together, you can create a wing bar where guests can customize their plates. Set out bowls of additional sauces, such as buffalo sauce or teriyaki sauce, along with toppings like chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or grated cheese. This interactive serving style allows everyone to create their perfect wing combination.

No matter how you choose to serve them, these slow cooker honey-mustard chicken wings are sure to be a hit. Their sweet and tangy flavor, combined with the tender and juicy meat, will leave your guests craving more. So get creative with your serving suggestions and enjoy these finger-licking wings in a way that suits your taste and occasion.

How to Store Leftovers

Leftovers are inevitable when cooking a large batch of slow cooker honey-mustard chicken wings. To ensure that you can enjoy these delicious wings for another meal, it’s important to store them properly. Here are some tips on how to store your leftovers.

First, let the wings cool down to room temperature before storing them. This will prevent condensation from forming inside the container, which can lead to sogginess. Once cooled, transfer the wings to an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag.

To maintain the flavor and texture of the wings, it’s best to store them separate from the sauce. Place the wings in one container and the sauce in another. This will prevent the wings from becoming too saucy and losing their crispiness.

Label the containers with the date and contents to keep track of when they were prepared. Leftover wings can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. If you want to keep them for longer, you can freeze them for up to 3 months.

When reheating the wings, it’s best to use the oven or an air fryer to maintain their crispy texture. Simply place the wings on a baking sheet and heat them at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.

By following these storage tips, you can enjoy the deliciousness of slow cooker honey-mustard chicken wings even after they’ve been cooked. So don’t let any leftovers go to waste and savor the flavors for another meal.
