Air fryer bangers with onion gravy. Our air fryer bangers recipe is the perfect way to make a delicious meal for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. It comes with step-by-step instructions and plenty of tips to make sure your cooking goes smoothly.

How are bangers typically eaten?

The usage of bangers is largely dependant on the type of sausage. For example, sausages like frankfurters are traditionally eaten by cutting them into rounds and then cooking them in a frying pan or grilling them. On the other hand, sausages like bratwurst are typically eaten with mustard or horseradish sauce.

What are the benefits of eating this dish?

This dish is loaded with healthy fats, proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It is high in vitamin B and contains a variety of antioxidants. It also helps to lower blood sugar levels and keep you feeling full and satisfied.

It will take less time to cook than it would to prep the ingredients for a salad which means more time for other activities.

A lot of dishes that people think are healthy are either too expensive or not very flavorful or both. This dish on the other hand is affordable but still delicious and filling!

How long does it take to cook air fryer bangers with onion gravy?

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks food by circulating hot air around the food. It uses a convection cooking process that heats the oil just enough to cook the food, but not enough to put it in contact with the pan or pot.

It has become popular over the past decade, and many of its benefits are related to its ability to cook without adding extra oil. Air frying also typically reduces the calories and fat content of foods because the hot air circulates all around it, and cooks from all angles.

Cooking time for bangers and onion gravy:

Air fryer bangers with onion gravy take about 20-30 minutes in an air fryer which is less than an hour of cooking time on a stove or oven.

Ingredients

  • 4 bangers
  • 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (500 ml) beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

Step 1

Preheat your air fryer to 350 F (175 C).

Step 2

Prick the bangers a few times with a sharp knife. Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Fry at 350 F (175 C) for 10-12 minutes, turning sausages halfway through.

Step 3

To make the onion gravy: Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, for about 4 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in all-purpose flour. Continue cooking and stirring constantly for a further 2 minutes.

Step 5

Pour in about 3/4 cup (180 ml) of beef broth and mix into the onion, so it becomes sludge. Add the remaining broth and mix until well combined.

Step 6

Simmer, stirring, for 2-3 minutes, or until the gravy thickens. Serve with fried bangers and mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
