This air fryer churros recipe is the perfect way to mix up your breakfast routine with a sweet, crispy breakfast treat.
These churros are made from scratch, with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon that’s shaped into sticks that are then rolled in granulated sugar.
They’re baked for about 5 minutes and then fried for about 3 minutes, resulting in a puffy, crunchy exterior that’s completely coated with sugar.
Serve it with your favorite dip. I recommend serving it with Chocolate Dip.
What are some of the benefits of using an air fryer to make churros?
Air fryers are a great way to make churros. They don’t require any oil and they are healthier than deep frying. Air fryers use hot air to cook food, so there is no need to use oil or butter.
You can also control the temperature of the air fryer which means you can cook at a lower temperature and still get good results.
Some people are worried that the air fryer will not be able to provide enough heat for churros, but in reality, it does just as well as a deep fryer.
It might take longer, but it’s worth it because you don’t have to worry about all of the oil that would normally be used in a deep fryer!

Ingredients
- 1 cup (250 ml) water
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Method
Step 1
Cover a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Grease with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 2
Pour water into a medium saucepan. Add butter, sugar, and salt. Stir well. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 3
Reduce heat to medium-low. Add all-purpose flour. Using a rubber spatula, stir constantly until the mixture forms a dough and is smooth.
Step 4
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Allow cooling for 4-5 minutes.
Step 5
Add beaten eggs and vanilla extract. Using an electric hand mixer, beat until well combined. (the mixture will look like mashed potatoes.)
Step 6
Using wet hands, press lumps together into a ball. Transfer to a large piping bug. Pipe churros onto the prepared silicone mat, into 4-inch (10 cm) length, then cut the end with scissors. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 7
Remove churros from the refrigerator. Using a spatula, carefully transfer to the air fryer basket. (leave 1/2 inch space between them) Spray churros with cooking spray.
Step 8
Set the temperature to 375 F (190 C) Air fry for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 9
In a small mixing bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Stir well.
Step 10
Remove fried churros from the fryer and transfer them to the bowl with the sugar mixture. Toss well. Serve warm with your favorite dip.
