  • 1 pound (480 g) boneless and skinless chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspooon salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • sliced green onions, for garnish


Step 1

Preheat your air fryer to 400 F (200 C) for 5 minutes.

Step 2

In a small mixing bowl, combine cubed chicken, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat chicken evenly.

Step 3

Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. Place seasoned chicken in the greased air fryer basket, leaving some space between cubes. Fry for 10 minutes, tossing once during the cooking.

Step 4

In a small saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients. Whisk until brown sugar is dissolved completely. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for a further 5 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Pour the sauce over fired chicken to coat evenly. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot.
